Description

In this three day workshop series, teachers who wish to implement a contextualized approach to instruction will learn how to design and execute thematic learning projects that both enhance academic skills and strengthen college and career readiness by engaging students in research and learning activities that extend beyond the classroom.

Participants will be introduced to the seven common phases of Project-Based-Learning:

1) Identifying a topic, problem, or issue for examination 2) Sharing prior knowledge and experience 3) Planning and assigning tasks 4) Researching the topic or issue 5) Conceptualizing the product 6) Creating and presenting the product 7) Evaluating the project and assessing learning

Participants will learn how to align projects to skill-based and content-based learning objectives and will review examples. They will then develop and execute a thematic learning project in their classroom and subsequently share their results with their colleagues.
